Jones embraces ethnomusicology in his creative compositions and he combines a variety of approaches in his writing. In addition to his work with Cave Dogs, Dean’s projects have been funded by Meet the Composer, NYSCA, and SOS. He is a 2013 Grammy Award winning producer and his solo debut CD, Napper’s Delight was featured on NPR as one of 2007’s best CDs for kids. He scored several episodes of MTV Road Rules and the Real World. His music has also been featured on VH1, Nickelodeon, HBO, Noggin, Discovery, ABC, Oxygen and Food Network and in various independent films worldwide. Dean has performed and recorded with: George Clinton and P-Funk, Saints of Swing, Dog on Fleas, the Fighting McKenzies, Ari Up, Earmight, Varnaline, Hopewell, Festival Township Orchestra, Sonando, Marc Black, Snake Oil Medicine Show, Breadfruit, Harmonica Virgins, Mealymouth, Emily Curtis, Perfect Thyroid, Giri Mekar, and Hudson River Playback Theatre.
